Chain of Responsibility (CoR)
Shared Responsibility Across the Supply Chain
At Bolton Global Logistics, safety and compliance are an important part of every freight movement we coordinate.
Under Australia’s Chain of Responsibility (CoR) legislation, responsibility for transport safety does not sit with one party alone. Instead, every party who influences the transport task shares responsibility for managing risks within their control.
This includes customers, consignors, loaders, carriers, drivers, receivers, and logistics providers.
Where BGL Fits Within the Chain
Bolton Global Logistics operates as a freight management and logistics coordination provider.
We coordinate freight movements through trusted carrier partners across Australia and internationally, managing communication, scheduling, freight coordination, and customer support throughout the transport process.
BGL does not directly own or operate trucks, trailers, or employ drivers.
As part of the Chain of Responsibility, our obligations relate to the areas we can reasonably control or influence, including:
Carrier engagement and coordination
Accurate communication of freight requirements
Freight booking and scheduling
Providing clear operational information across the supply chain
Working with approved transport partners
Supporting safe and compliant freight movements
Operational transport responsibilities such as vehicle compliance, driver fatigue management, vehicle maintenance, and on-road operations remain the responsibility of the performing carrier.
Customer Responsibilities
To support safe and compliant freight movements, customers also play an important role within the Chain of Responsibility.
Customers and consignors are responsible for ensuring:
Freight descriptions are accurate
Correct weights and dimensions are provided
Freight is safely packaged and labelled
Dangerous goods are correctly declared
Pickup and delivery sites provide safe access
Timeframes and delivery expectations are reasonable and achievable
BGL relies on the information provided by customers to coordinate freight safely and effectively throughout the transport network.
Why Chain of Responsibility Matters
Strong CoR practices help create:
Safer transport outcomes
Reduced risk across the supply chain
Better operational communication
Improved compliance standards
More reliable freight movements
Reduced delays and disruptions
At BGL, we believe good logistics is about more than simply booking freight — it’s about managing the movement responsibly from start to finish.
Working Together
Successful freight outcomes rely on collaboration between customers, carriers, and logistics providers.
Bolton Global Logistics works closely with all parties involved to ensure freight movements are coordinated safely, efficiently, and professionally at every stage of the supply chain.
